I guess Im done reading this at this point but for the record - I don’t think its bullshit that they were upset about the servers mistake I think its bullshit that my server made it - completely unacceptable.
Perhaps you all run big businesses and don’t understand what its like to be strained...
So what I’m gathering is people actually comp a whole bill?
That’s insane.
On top of it all I’ve reviewed video and know these guys yelled at staff (not the server, they went behind the pizza counter to confront the cook)
I don’t want them back - it’s insane over the waitresses bullshit mistake
We have two restaurants in one building. Customers are allowed to order pizza from the pizza shop to eat in our Asian restaurant…
Guaranteeing all good is done at the same time is achieved 95% of the time or within minutes granted the server remembers to order
I’ve never had a situation quite like this… any insight would be great… not that I expect to have it happen again any time soon, its only happened this one time in the 5+ years we’ve been open.
As posted on my FB page…

Ugh I’ve had similar situations - thankfully off the clock but his mom had to call me and tell me he wouldn’t make his shift. Domestic stuff and he ended up going to rehab. We’ve kept him on and he’s turned around quite nicely.
Depends a lot on your situation. Employees are hard to come by...
We push bakery - its a good upsell. We buy cookie doughs but aside from that everything is made from scratch. No dessert pizzas. But we also track and push noting what customers like… telling them whats fresh etc. Sampling as well is a big one for weekend sales. Its a lot of impulse purchasing...
We bought a Canadian developed one (BEST POS) when we opened 5 years ago. I’ve tweaked it to work nicely for us and can’t justify spending on a new one. There are some great features I could imagine having that others offer but it’s not worth the $$ for our small scale shop. They’ve just added a...
I learned that I love Upper Crust Cinnamon filled things…
OMG
Aside from that… I dunno - competition is crazy but I want to go back! Look forward to the recordings as I don’t do the sit down seminars.
We also do bread and bakery goods (cookies, brownies, danish etc)
1 ) Bakery treats (sweet stuff)
2) Boneless wings
3) Pizza bread
4) Wings
5) Drinks (Pepsi - cans/bottles and old fashioned soda like Boylans)
We started with someone in this type of position.
Ultimately I let her go and have taken it over. My MIL and I share duties which will be much easier as we are switching to an online accessible accounting program. Stoked about that.
I prefer to have 100% of the knowledge about whats going on...
a lot depends on your market - your product and what you want.
We’ve always been very involved in community events, we didn’t pay for advertising till our 4th year and I’m just now pushing marketing in year 5. Not because we “need” more business… but because I have the time and ability to do so...
in 2015 I was doing 70-80/wk
We have three kids, one of which was having some very serious issues in December so since mid december I’ve cut back to 30-40 hours
(neither of these numbers account for hours I put in at home - probably 5-10 a week at least)
