Looking for ideas to build lunch business

Rico: When you talk to the admin staff at local businesses, explain how they can place a group order through your online ordering site too. Give them the link to your Start a Group Order page. For anyone who has to organize lunches for groups, this is a huge time saver – and a reason to choose...

    Anyone do a Heart Pizza?

Makes sense. The inventory variance was all to the good regardless. 🙂 It would be great to see you at Pizza Expo. With the M2 release just out, we’re holding off on the next one for a few more months. Come see some options you may not have considered yet (tablets, customer displays, etc.)...

    Anyone do a Heart Pizza?

Apparently a LOT of shops tried the heart-shaped pizzas this year, David – including quite few chains. In our Support dept., call volume was at 120% of forecast last week due to last-minute questions from restaurants adding heart-shaped pizza menu items and coupons, or trying to adjust inventory...

    Handling Phone Orders

Anyone had luck moving some of this time-intensive order activity online? A number of online ordering providers support Group Orders – which would allow corporate or hospital customers to submit this kind of order through your website. Your customers may actually prefer it to the phone: it’s...

Ways to save money: What have you discovered?

For the SpeedLine users on the board: if you’re not already doing this, check your POS pay period reports for the In Store and Out Store Pay breakdown (v7.1+). Drivers are in a much higher risk class than in-store staff – but only when they’re on the road. If you aren’t reporting in-store vs...

Anyone ever hear of Eat24 / Eat24Hours or GrubHub?

GrubHub/Seamless, Eat24 are expensive compared to your own online ordering site – but can be one of the cheaper ways to attract new customers, since you only pay for actual orders. I would never recommend using these sites instead of your own online ordering site, but in addition? Sure. As long...

What is your pizza history? How did you end up where you are?

David, Have you mapped your customer sales data to see how much business you’re getting from outlying areas – and which neighborhoods? A map view of sales volume could make it a lot easier to make decisions about where to adjust your delivery area. If you’re running LiveMaps, look for “Map...

Have you claimed your listing on Google Places/+Business?

This week on Reddit, Katie’s Pizza losing business to a fake website: You’ve probably already claimed your listing on Google Places (now Google+ Business)—but if not (or if you haven’t updated your Google+ Business page), this is a good reason to do it. https://www.google.com/business/...

Glad it’s being resolved for you…just sorry I didn’t see your post earlier. North Country usually does a great job, and it sounds like they’re working it out, but sorry for the aggravation! Jennifer@SpeedLine

Where does your marketing budget go?

Royster, some of my clients use the pizza slice magnets too. I like your thinking, but the trouble with using a T-shirt, etc., as the reward is that it only works once—and some people won’t be interested at all. With a free pizza as the prize, the magnet promo keeps on working: after redeeming a...

Where does your marketing budget go?

Curious what people spend on database marketing vs. EDDM. And although they’re less of a budget factor, how important are email and social media in relation to other marketing activities?

What makes some pizza more digestible?

The added fat will also contribute somewhat to the pizza being filling—but the way you describe your pizzas may be a bigger factor. If you call it an Individual, Single, Personal, “My Pizza” (or something more creative that tells the customer it’s a single-serving pizza) rather than just...

Grubhub love it or hate it?

At our POS installer conference last week, several trainers mentioned how popular GrubHub/Seamless has become in certain areas—especially around Chicago. They commented that our restaurant clients are frustrated with the steep fees, but feel they would lose too much business by opting out. So a...

Going live with new website soon - comments please

I actually like the way you used the gray type, but it does fade a bit into the background. I would suggest either a shade darker, or replacing the font site-wide with one that’s not quite so fine (some fonts are bolder than others). The prominent online order links and phone # are great, and...

    Wood ovens

Not a wood-burning option, but have you looked at the conveyors some of the new fast casual “made to order while you watch” pizza concepts are using? TurboChef is one manufacturer. Bake time for an 8-inch from raw dough is 3 minutes.
