    Printer Setup Help

Pizzapirate, to help us keep track of the light sauce/extra sauce pizzas we put a small piece of green pepper on the edge of the crust, for light cheese or extra cheese, we do the same but with a black olive on the edge of the crust. This not only helps us keep track of them on the makeline, but...

    Switching Cheese from Grande

Haha! I’d doubt the Domino’s around me puts half that much on their pies.

How would you handle this employee infraction?

At my store if this was done at a slow time just so they could clean up and go home earlier without having to make and deliver a last minute order I would(and have) fire the manager.

    VOIP (Pizza Cloud)

I have a friend that is using it at multiple shops who loves it and raves about it. Because of this recommendation, I am planning to use it when I relocate my store this summer. But, another franchise in our company has purchased the system with installation and has been waiting quite a long...

    Loyalty rewards programs

Do you run into issues with people having multiple phone numbers and not understanding why they can’t combine the points from multiple numbers to get their free pizza?

Where are YOU personally getting your health insurance?

A few weeks ago I was checking on the ACA cost for my son. As a 25 year old earning $26,000/year he qualified for a free bronze plan. After seeing this I started asking my employees if they had insurance. Out of 42 employees, I have a dozen or so who are on their parents plan, a few on their...

Where are YOU personally getting your health insurance?

Nah, I’ll happily pay for my health insurance in order to enjoy winter in Florida(74 degrees F right now). Plus, What does cheese cost in Canada right now? I’m pretty sure my $1.70/Lb cheese more than covers the health insurance costs compared to the $3 or $4 it would cost in Canada.

Where are YOU personally getting your health insurance?

Prior to ACA Our plan for my wife and I was under $225/month with a $5000 ish deductible, but an 80/20 copay till that $5000 was hit. Now we’re a few years older and it’s quadruple the price, no copay and a 35% higher deductible.

    Dough Pro automatic dough press

I have a Dough Pro 2300 automatic dough press that I bought used nearly 10 years ago for a project that never got off the ground. It has not been used since I’ve had it, was sold to me as a working unit. It could really use a good cleaning as it has been sitting around for 10 years and it’s...

    Market share

I’m not really sure what is the norm but this was certainly an odd situation. This location of our franchise is one of three in this town, and serves the the bulk of the students from the rather large university here. It is the flagship store of our small franchise and the owner of it always...

    Market share

I owned it for 3.5 years and tax returns showed increased income each of the three tax years, the final of which was $200K. I sold the store to another franchisee for $625K completely owner financed, front loaded on the loan. So far, it’s been paid down below 50% way ahead of schedule.

    Market share

While I can’t speak for the others who got into this young, I bought mine at 25 and certainly didn’t have the money, credit know how or maturity but somehow it worked out. If I had all of that, I probably would have been smarter than get involved with what was a marginally profitable business at...

    Employee claiming too much tips.

If you file for the IRS tip credit when you file your business taxes you will get back the employers share of the Social Security and Medicare tax on tips above minimum wage. In Florida, tips are not subject to workers comp, I’m not sure if that’s universal or not. With these factors, who cares...

It was stated as 18000 per month. I’m guessing that that was misstated but if not, it certainly will be tough to make any money at that.

    Market share

As far as growth potential of this location, having over 17% of the households already as customers seems like it’s near a saturation point, but there are so many variables to this that can’t be evaluated from afar. How much competition is there? Is the town growing, and if so at what pace? What...

The numbers I referenced were regarding a sandwich shop, it changes a little when talking pizza delivery. I really don’t know a thing about Canadian payroll so keep in mind the numbers I put out there might not be relevant at all to your situation. In the USA, all employers must match 7.65% of...

    Forecasting labor costs

Unless you will be the manager, someone will have to be paid a fair bit more than minimum wage(my shift managers earn 50-60% more, GM quite a bit more). Payroll taxes and workers comp cost me 12.6% on top of wages for restaurant labor(this is after nearly all of my employees have hit the cutoff...

    Labor

There’s no doubt that it does push labor up but it drives sales even outside those late night hours and it’s kind of what we are known for. It would be hard to change in this town. As our company expands, nearly all of the stores are open latest and they are all doing great revenue.

    Labor

Mt food cost runs 30%ish depending on cheese prices and I’m running 33%ish all in for labor including payroll taxes and workers comp after subtracting mine and my wifes payroll. She’s the bookeeper and works 5 hours a week in the store and I work 40. While my food and labor percentage haven’t...
