    Auto Attendant for phone

I use one and love it. Whatever special we put on the upfront message sells better than anything else.

Hello I'm new to the pizza idea

You say you’re looking to buy an established pizza place, why is it for sale? What are you planning to change? What will you do if 30% of the staff leaves when the old owner leaves? Two things I wish I had done from the beginning? Use a staff leasing company and work closely with a CPA to avoid...

    Phone System

I’m looking for some phone system options for my new building. Is VOIP reliable enough to consider? I’m looking for a system that can handle six incoming lines and 5 or six handsets. Any suggestions on what to look at?

Time for a new prep table

I just purchased a new 93" Migali for $2400 delivered. I’m pretty sure that Migali, Atosa, Bison and a few others are exactly the same. If you’re not going to spend big money for one of the top branded units, my suggestion is buy the cheapest one at the right size for you.

    Flour Prices...

My flour prices have went from the low $12 range up to $16.21. I’m hoping to see these prices come down quick as it’s costing me $200+ extra to buy it. I remember the price spike mentioned above. There was some talks of flour not being available at that point. I looked through my invoices and...

    POS Thermal Paper

The website I’ve always used changed their pricing/shipping so now a case 50 rolls of 220’ thermal paper is $47.22 if I buy 11 cases and use their emailed coupon. I used to have a workaround on their website that would save me $3-$4 per case but it doesn’t work with their new pricing/shipping...

    Location Issue

I’m not sure the procedures where you are at but here in Florida it will still take some time to get open. A health department plan review will generally run a month or so. an occupational license might take some time as well depending on what if any permits have to be pulled to bring things up...

    Location Issue

$3K/ month more is a lot, it’s going to take a 10% or more bump in sales just to cover that. What will you do with the extra 1000 feet? How much buildout will you have to do at this location? Are you ready to shell out $100K for it? I guess the question to ask yourself is would you plan to move...

Has PMQ had a positive affect on you and/or your pizzeria?

The positive affect PMQ has had on me and my pizza shop has come mostly from the Think Tank. While I love the magazine and commonly read it cover to cover, much of it doesn’t apply to my place. I have found many more helpful, candid and relevant topics here in the TT to help me improve my...

    Promise Times

Do you not offer pizza to go as well? With the use of delivery bags, you should be able to get your pizza into someones house hotter, fresher and better than it would be if the customer picked it up at your store to bring home.

Pizza Delivery Tip Of The Day

I consider 1.5oz to be acceptable. If you served me 1oz shots, I wouldn’t be your customer for long.

Yes, please post a picture as I’m thinking about going with this for my new building.

Bad attitude dragging the team down

As you say in the title, he’s dragging the team down. Get rid of him and you’ll see the team respond. My guess is the short term struggles will be shorter than you think. Someone else is likely to step up and take over his role plus more.

    Vulcan pizza oven

Im a conveyor oven guy so I don’t know a whole lot about deck ovens but 50,000 BTU’s seems awful low. I have a feeling that you’ll have very slow recovery times on you busy nights.

What is your policy on call ins?

Reading this thread makes me sad. While I have undoubtedly had more employee issues in recent years and we now spend significantly more time hiring and training, if the time ever comes where I feel that I have to put up with someone not showing up for work and not calling the store, I will...

    AC and the lease.

As both a commercial landlord and a pizza shop owner I’ve seen this from both sides. Before buying my building I had a triple net lease that made me responsible for everything but the walls and roof. I replaced the A/C at the beginning of my lease and added a new second one a few years in. I...

Deck to Conveyor & making the switch. Sort of. Advice?

Start with a doublestack and add a third oven when needed. I’m doing $8000 Friday nights with two ovens. We only turn our third on for our few biggest days of the year or for orders of 75 pizzas or more. I bought directly from Edge and one of the owners came and delivered them himself(this was...

    Advice

Clearly there’s a big change in flavor from smoked wings to oven baked wings, otherwise you wouldn’t be getting these comments. Maybe you should consider offering them both ways, with the new smoked wings marketed as an LTO. Maybe offer a slight discount on them to entice people to try them...

What technology/app would make your life "easier" as a pizza operator?

There’s an app out there already that you can do inventory on and place orders with your suppliers. It’s cherrypicksprices, com. The founder is a buddy of mine. A while back he was visiting and was working on voice recognition so you could walk through your store and speak your inventory levels...

What technology/app would make your life "easier" as a pizza operator?

An app similar to that of an Uber drivers app that would automatically give turn by turn directions to a drivers phone when they dispatch deliveries.
