20% Drop in Sales Since Dominos Came to Town

Niky Ds: When we took over our shop, we had a 16" “large” pizza. I got exhausted trying to battle the size perception and finally just started calling it what everyone else in town was, an “extra large”. I didn’t make a big deal about the name change, I just switched it one morning and moved...

How were you Super Bowl Sales?

My 3rd Super Bowl, once again, just another Sunday for us. The only thing I’ve noticed is that sales start later and end earlier.

20% Drop in Sales Since Dominos Came to Town

Daddio: I was merely trying to suggest originally something that worked for me that might help the OP cut costs and improve his product. Not sure how that warrents the personal attacks from Pakula. Pakula's Pizza: I don’t have to make a profit (but I do) because my wife has a decent job and we...

20% Drop in Sales Since Dominos Came to Town

Pakula's Pizza: What materials do they provide that is worth the several thousand dollars extra a year I have to pay for their product? Some stickers and placemats that promote their product, not mine? You’re missing the part where I mentioned that people are complimenting my cheese after...

Anyone ever worry about thier competition spying on PMQ

I know one of my competition reads/read this forum. I’m not as concerned about what I say after most of their stores were seized last year by the state and the founder had to sell his share (still can’t figure out how a business gets seized and is reopened 12 hours later). When I first stumbled...

    Weather Forced Closings?

We didn’t end up opening yesterday, but the storm was not near as big as advertised. Based on the call logs, we probably would have done Saturday sales numbers. It’s disappointing to lose that, but I really don’t think I would have been able to deliver very effectively considering I got my truck...

20% Drop in Sales Since Dominos Came to Town

Can you give an example of “progressively more aggressive offers” including what your $ or % discount is on them? I’ve seen people talk about doing this a lot, but I don’t know how to do this correctly so I’ve not even tried to do it. I know it’s a huge mistake, just something I’ve let slide for...

20% Drop in Sales Since Dominos Came to Town

I know it’s hard to do, believe me, it’s hard to do. But, drop the Grande. I don’t know what blend you’re using, but when I dropped them and went to a 100% Mozzarella on my pizzas, I heard/hear so many comments about how many more people comment on how they like the cheese on our pizza. I rarely...

    Weather Forced Closings?

Nice I’m still not seeing much down here except the sidewalks are slick, nothing near the apocalypse I was told was coming. Deliveries are even down for a Monday night. Think I’ll wait 'til morning to make a call.

pizzaduo: Agreed. I’m still on the fence about whether to open tomorrow.

    Weather Forced Closings?

We’re going to get popped with this storm coming through the midwest. Should be about 12 inches by the end of tomorrow. Our town is awful about clearing roads and I’m concerned about my drivers spending the whole night stuck in snow drifts, at the same time, it should be a considerable bump in...

    Hobart Mixer Resistant to Resistance

Thanks guys. In the past I’ve started pulling things apart assuming I would be able to see what the problem was, usually I just ended up breaking things worse. Got a couple good ideas of what to look at now, appreciate it.

    Hobart Mixer Resistant to Resistance

Well, this year has started about the same way my entire 2010 went. New equipment problems. My Hobart (600 series) wont mix anymore on low settings. The motor continues to run, but the hook doesn’t move. If I put it on a high speed (flour flies everywhere we I do this), it mixes pretty well but...

its all over but the crying

Sorry to hear this, you always seemed very passionate about your business. Remember that a lot of good people have had to close up their shops and not to let yourself take it as to much of a personal failure. It may also turn out to be one of the best things that happened to you, especially if...

Record Keeping -- Saving Signed CC Receipts

Rockstar pizza: Agreed, I’ve not had a single charge back in the 2+ years we’ve had our store. But, I got them all the time (10-15 a year) when I owned a bar and they never once sided with me.

I've finally hit the BIG time!

deaconvolker:  I have my store phone number ported to a cell phone that forwards to a Google Voice account. Now everytime I get one of those stupid calls, I just log in and punch the block # button. I loooove it.

Lock up your daughters - the British are coming (again!)

qcfmike: LOL Speaking of “Disney” & “Expensive”. I paid for all my Christmas gifts this year by selling Disney Princess costume dresses to lazy parents on ebay.

    Tipping On POS Online Orders

With Point of Success online ordering with Big Holler. When someone pays with a credit card and enters a tip online, does POS deduct that tip amount from the driver bank cash like it does with credit card orders that are taken over the phone, or do I need to have the driver get a payout from the...

    Am I asking too much?

I don’t think I’ve ever checked provided references. We’re in a smaller town, so a lot of times if I’m interested in an applicant, I’ll try and find them on facebook and usually can find a mutal friend or current/past employee on their friends list that I can get an unbiased opinion from.
