who do you hold responsible when a table dines & dashes?

Its common practice for waiters to carry their own bank and close it at the end of their shift. As such, they are completely responsible for dine-n-dashers. Its in their interest to watch the customer and ensure they don’t dash. If it occurs, there are reporting procedures, including police...

    Am I asking too much?

I agree with others about references. You should modify your procedure to make references available “upon request.” That means, you’ve interviewed the applicant and are interested in making them an offer of employment, pending further information: credit check, background check, MV check...

Can my 3-Phase Mixer be converted?

I purchased a 3ph rotary motor & converter box for $750 I believe… its been awhile. Mine is a 7.5hp motor. For comparison, I could run 5 of your “1.5hp” 3 phase mixers on it. Or I can run mine, and any other 3ph device up to a total of 7.5hp of 3ph. It isn’t just a ‘converter’, you have to...

    Groupon Experiences

you mean you didn’t wade through boxes of legal paper orders to see how often he ordered??? (I’m dumbfounded). Okay, so the sarcasm is a bit high, but I couldn’t resist considering recent posts about running the business ‘old school.’ I think this is a great thread & subject. Thanks for...

    20" Pizza Price

Great point Rick. That’s the reason I said you really don’t want to sell a 20" except perhaps as a special or gimmic, and as such, they should pay more for it. I follow a simple rule: If it takes more product, more time, more resources to make, charge MORE for it.

    20" Pizza Price

Merry Christmas guys. With respect to this 20" thingie… I’m looking at it as a special treat, a one of a kind - give it a special name. Its something you really don’t want to sell. As such, I’d charge MORE. Without knowing your costs, I’d say cheese only, $24. Toppings would be $3. *Offer a...

    Payroll Processing

Echoing Kris. We use Intuit, “Quickbooks Online.” I run payroll and use free direct deposit from ‘my’ commercial bank (no Quickbooks). Its pretty darn good, hard to beat for about $550/yr.

    Staff Christmas Gifts

Our standard bonus, as long as they work Xmas thru New years is: $100/per year of service for full time, $50/yr per year of service for part-time. On top of that, we host an Xmas party where gifts are exchanged and bonus cash is awarded. This might not be the model for all, but its working for...

POS Marketing question. How do you get names?

I might as well chime in. My business is mostly tourism based. As such, I focus marketing where they will see me. Ideally, I want them to 'hear/read/see" something (impression) of my business FIVE times before they get to me. Internet (facebook, website, other websites, search, etc…) Rackcards...
