    Limited menu?

Defining what “simple” means is important, too. Are you talking about 4 or 5 pizzas only? And will you be dine in only?

    Limited menu?

Simple, sparse menus are usually a novice mistake. It doesn’t work that way in the food business. You’re adding little value into your daily work, so you’ll reap what you sew. Profit is your reward for understanding human nature and the buying habits of people in your area, and for the work you...

    Anybody not discount?

Exactly. By giving a free pizza for someone who has bough 10 pizzas, it has cost me only 2% off each of those ten pizzas. And I still sell a pizza for about $19, too. Two for one? No way. 50% discount on second pizza? No way. I do give a free drink (35 cents my cost) or a free dessert (under...

    Anybody not discount?

Because I’m not in North America… 🙂 Very few, if any, would be worn here. It’s just a different culture when it comes to advertising specialties.

    Anybody not discount?

Disclaimer: I go against the tide in many situations, so keep that in mind… I’ll offer a free add-on as a volume discount. That costs less than price discounts. I have offered a point card system, too - buy ten times and get one order free.

Our 60 year old dough machine

Wow, I’m almost as old as that mixer… And I look a little like it, too!

RANT: School Principal says you cannot say Merry Christmas

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the Winter solstice holiday practiced with the most enjoyable traditions of religious persuasion or secular...

    Triple D and Stanislaus :o)

Stanislaus would be much cheaper for me, Nick. I’m in Japan, and shipping from California to Japan costs about half as much as shipping anything from Europe. Plus the dollar is so weak against the yen now that it’s like a 33% discount compared to a few years ago. Same thing with cheese...

    Triple D and Stanislaus :o)

I’ve always wondered if their products are really that good as many of you say. I don’t dispute you appreciate their quality control or taste, I wonder if their competitors are just that much worse. I wish I could taste it but they won’t ship anything outside North America and don’t want any...

    CFM Concepts is screwing me

Hi royster13: I don’t think a copyright claim has ever been resolved without a lawyer by either party in the entire history of copyrights. I can’t believe anyone would act on such an unreasonable and unrealistic scenario communicated though phone calls by a company that claims it isn’t...

    CFM Concepts is screwing me

And I’ll say again, I find this all to be a little suspect. Copyright claims are handled in writing by attorneys, not people calling you or sending you emails. Don’t change a thing on your website until then.

    CFM Concepts is screwing me

Something seems wrong with all of this. Do you have a document from the alleged new owner of the image copyrights? If I prepay the lease of a car and the leasing company is sold, I don’t lose the car and all the money I paid for the use of it. The new company purchased my contract. Same with...

Would a $4.99 Large Pizza Deal be so bad?

Hi pizzasam. Looking better! You have some alignment compatibility problems with Windows Firefox. Mac browsers work fine. I’m not a fan of trackers. It’s pretty hard to come up with a reason why a small business would load a web tracker. Saying that you don’t disclose info to third parties, then...

Would a $4.99 Large Pizza Deal be so bad?

Now that photo of your pizza is great! It looks very fresh and appetizing. I really like some fresh uncooked toppings like those tomatoes. I do something similar. You should ask that person to take some more photos that you can use on your site. Give them the product for free and it would be a...

Would a $4.99 Large Pizza Deal be so bad?

Pizzasam: I think you’re sincerely hoping to improve your business, so I did a little digging to look at your situation and your website. I offer these ideas as constructive comments and am not just trying to be critical. These are in no particular order. Before I get started, some of the...

    Groupon Nightmare...

People don’t make rational decisions based on price only. That went out of fashion in the 1800’s. People are manipulated and engineered to buy by branding and marketing. Think like your customer about quality, but not about marketing.

Brushing crust with olive oil / butter out of the oven

I brush on a very light coating of EVOO mixed with a small amount of this on the dough before adding sauce, toppings and baking. Does wiping the edges of a finished pizza would make it greasy for the customer to handle?

Would a $4.99 Large Pizza Deal be so bad?

OK, that clears up many questions I had. ₤4.99 is US$7.80 and changes the equations and rules-of-thumb many Americans may have been applying to your circumstances. Plus, the ratio of die-hard pizza customers is lower than in the US. But, much of the advice so far and in the future may apply...
