If you can afford it, a POS is a No-brainer. Best move I ever made operations-wise. Check old threads for numerous reasons why it makes sense.

I did the Test with "Big 3" oven....deck vs. conve

Re: I did the Test with “Big 3” oven…deck vs. c Thanks for the info. I’ll have one door to put in, one to take-out and a false door/viewing window for a window facing the street. I was going to get a mini-deck for slices and i’ll have a mini-conveyor for all the grill-side stuff. So that should...

Conveyor makes deck pizza taste like.......

Y-yo, i switched from decks to conveyors 7 years ago after 3 years with double stack blodgetts. It makes the operation run much smoother. we have a full menu, ie steaks, hoagies, pasta, apps, you name it. a monkey, or for that matter a driver, can remove the pies put in box and cut. I do a NY...

    employee food policy

we do unlimited free fountain and one ‘Meal’ per shift.that could be a sandwich with fries or some pizza. It never really gets abused except for the fountain. “Clunkers” we used to call left around beers in my younger days. as long as it’s busy I let some things go as the crew does work hard. I...

    telephone system

I’ve had sunrocket at home for 2 years. Got an email last week saying “Sorry we’re Closed” basically. I prepaid $200 per year for unlimited calling about 6 mos back. So I’m out the $100, but they attached a link with “Recommended” Providers. Moral to the story–be careful, at home I don’t care if...

    Large 14" 1 topping price

I’m in Philadelphia charging $8 for 16 inch. We have good rep with pizza and i’m ordering menus shortly, so I was going up to $8.50. I agree with Kyle that in my market which is pretty saturated, I can’t go higher at this point. We also give free 2-liter when you buy 2 Large. Toppings are $1.80...

    Buffalo Chicken Pizza

We cheese the shell, add chicken steak then squirt with wing sauce and serve with bleu cheese on side. popular, but I think it would be better with sliced chicken tenders but I don’t want to mess with it. The easiest of our “Gourmet” pies to make.

Delivery Signs... how much of an Impact are they?

Liability as in, there are alot of deadbeats looking for a fenderbender so they can sue “The Pizza Man” with all of that EASY cash. Am I exaggerating? yes, but a few years ago i was named in a lawsuit. car double parks, our driver and 2 or 3 others slow down behind the 1st car, drunk guy goes...

Delivery Signs... how much of an Impact are they?

No doubt the signs work, keep’em lit at night(they have wireless light kits now). big drawback is liability, someone looking for a payday eye’s will light up. I stopped using them after a couple years, but if you’re a newer store they’re a must have.

    Do you do ice cream?

we do hand dipped pints $2.75 and milkshakes the same. About 150 shakes per week 4 flavors. Yes they are a pain in the neck and i make more $ on other things, but to me they are a great hook as our main competitor doesn’t have them. I’ve never marketed the pints heavily but I like the " buy a...

Anybody ever use Menu Mon for 11x17 full color menus?

I’m re-ordering shortly. I’m in Philly, they are too. Strikes me as the kind of operation that closes overnight which is a little scary since they( very convenient) store them for you until you’re ready to mail. That’s .25 per piece btw. Also, quality is good not great. Price is right though...

    chicken products discussion

Nick, I couldn’t agree more w/patriot. We buy ready to go tenders but we use alot of boneless breast $1.60pd. It comes in pretty clean, just trim very little, marinate with whatever. we put through conveyor on deep sheet pans- about 9-10 mins at 500. Some gets grated on Hobart for...
