    Online Ordering (?)

We keep considering it but gee, it seems like it could be a killer. We have 2 phone lines and when we get slamming busy, I’d hate to think about 10 or 20 more people at once logging on to order and the make line printer goes nuts printing all those out! Has anyone else had a problem with...

    Fair selling price

Just doing a reality check here. Say you have a store doing consistently 10,500-11,500 per week, loyal customer base, over 2 years in business. Would $90,000 and 4% commission for 1 year be a fair deal? Comes with all equipment (paid for), ovens a little old but still working ok, trained staff...

    STUPID QUESTION....

🙂 Yeah, we’re not that desperate on our food vendors! With a 97.5 health score (and no servesafe for the extra 2 points), we’re pretty obsessive about food handling procedures. Thanks!

    confused???

🙂 The down-side of success. We ran out of cheese, pepperoni, jalapenos bites, sub rolls and chicken wings. Thought about answering the phone “hi - would you like to try our breadstick dinner”? thank goodness for local pizzaria friends that really help us out. The sales lately have been tremendous.

    Avg delivery radius

I think it really depends on your area. In the middle of a metro area you have higher density customers and more traffic so a smaller geographic footprint. In our area, we on the edge of a town of about 100,000 and we decided to go 12 miles. Yeah, it’s a hike but it’s completely unserved -...

    POS

After reading all the responses, yes I gotta say we don’t love Selbysoft. The program is awkard, the reporting horrible and there is no flexibility at all (in the program or service). We only have 2 stations that are used for timeclock, orders, and drivers checking out deliveries. On a busy...

ILLINOIS FESTIVALS, CAR SHOWS, AIR SHOWS, ETC.

There are a couple of internet site I use a lot - - try: http://www.festivalnet.com/indexes.html http://festivalsandevents.com/festival.php?state=IL I would also recommend doing research on the chamber of commerce or tourism for city, county or states you’re interested in.

    door hangers

I tend to like blank doorhangers - they’re 16.80 per thousand and I print them out myself. door-hangers-direct.com - very good quality.

Can Anyone Share Their Experience with a Ventless Fryer?

We added one about a month ago - huge benefit to us. Just sets on the counter, cleaning each night, replace oil twice a week. We’re doing almost $1,000 additional business just from the fryer - really driving average ticket prices. Total cost under $5,000 Works great and is idiot-proof and...

    cheese price

When I look on the PMQ main page for cheese price, today it’s at $1.70 per block. We’re paying $2.10 per pound. How does that relate? Is there anyone that thinks $2.10 is high/low/average? Thanks!

How to get a rottweiller into our logo and slogan.

It depends on your market and how you put things out there. Ours is a bulldog but then we’re in a Marine Corps town where all the military relate to the image. We used “take a bite out of this” and we’ve had a lot of really positive feedback. Everyone thinks it’s great.

    Professionally Designed Company Logo?

This is a wierd idea but worked for us…I tried the professional services and went with an internet-based one. Very hard to get the image across, hated all the concepts and ended up getting a refund. Then tried a sign company that does logo design and just couldn’t get it there either. For our...

    La Nova Rids

Re: La Nova Ribs Interesting - are they full size or “mini”? Roma has (had) a mini BBQ rib that was outstanding. We added them to our new menu and 2 weeks later they discontinued. Could have been because they called them “pork bites” - bad marketing move. Anyway, I’d still love to have them on...

    Menu Additions

We use frozen lasagna & manicotti pasta, thaw in the mico then prepare as if they were fresh. We add 3 extra cheeses and our sauce - works great. I’ve been really suprised that spaghetti is the biggest seller, though. We tried the frozen kind from our vendor and it was awful - I make fresh ever...

    Deal Making on Slices

Sorry I got busy and couldn’t jump back in on this. They are offering us our own consession there - our tent, banner and 20’ blow up. We can do 16" 8-cut for $2 per slice = $16 per pizza. If we do a 50%, they get $8/pizza and so do we. But…we’re staffing the concession for 6 hours and taking on...

Message On Hold, Do They Work?

Your phone system should have a port on it that connects a wire - looks just like a headphone jack (ours cost $60 for the wire). You plug the “headset jack” into the CD player and turn the player on - we use 3 recorded messages set on a constant loop. Since it’s wired into the phone system, when...

    Deal Making on Slices

OK - I’m back for more advice on making deals… We have a local dragstrip/raceway that has a small concession - they don’t sell pizza and invited us out for opening day. It was a fundraising for Victory Junction (disabled kids summer camp) and we donated 50% of the days sales. It was a horrible...

Message On Hold, Do They Work?

I can’t comment on the vendor but I can honestly say messages on hold DO work. This comes from 22 years as a telecom consultant and 9 months as a pizza owner. We’re too small to consider the cost of paying for on hold so I bought a $20 microphone for my computer. Most computers come with a...
