    Smart Phone Ordering

Does anyone on the board have a special website for smart phones, and if so, what percentage of orders come from it? Seems like the way of the future, a few simple thumb movements whilst lying on the couch, 30mins later your pizza is at the door.

    Chit Chat

Try to vary the type of employees you have on each shift. Example, one older, one younger, one sports nut, one geek etc. Its best they can get along but not be best mates. When we recruit, we always look for class, age diversity. Now we only have one combination of staff that we don’t mix, they...

giving out your cell phone to customers

A small portion of the population have no concept of when is right to call and when is not. Whilst most will respect your intentions to have constant contact you will get the odd few that will call at ridiculous times few the most trivial of things. In a previous business I was woken up at 5:30...

Would a $4.99 Large Pizza Deal be so bad?

Thanks for the help, I feel I got a bit more focus now. Website is done, www.frescopizza.co.uk and have quite a few ideas going at the moment. Something is still amiss but I’ll crack it. @wa dave, WOW to your selection. Not sure if we can match a full menu like that at the moment but will...

Would a $4.99 Large Pizza Deal be so bad?

Thank you so much pizza_garden for you time and effort, really appriecate it. Pizzasam’s area is rural and almost half of the population is self-employed or works in their home (farms?). There don’t appear to be many factories or large employers. The US culture of large orders from churches...

Would a $4.99 Large Pizza Deal be so bad?

I was wondering how long it would take to question our pizzas. They are awesome. It was the first thing we made sure we had right, always willing to take self criticism and always looking to improve ourselves. We use the best flour, chop all our own vegetables (which is not the norm round these...

    Groupon Nightmare...

I’m with pizzamancer on this, how can anyone pay $40 for cupcakes, supermakets are on your doorstep and I doubt they charge anywhere near this. And if people really are buying this on Amazon, I’m changing business and put my ovens to use during the day.

    Good Help.

I see the point but having several PT means you can get cover easier when it does get busy, or illness or vacation etc. Depending on the size of operation a mixture would be best. We have been lucky and simply had friends of existing PT staff join, although this could backfire, at the moment it...

Taking the plunge into a second store

In a previous industry we had several stores, and sure you get more problems but you also get so much more resources. We found it much easier once we had our third shop. Bulk marketing, bulk buying, getting staff to cover and more solutions and stock availability. It’s not all bad, tough at the...

Would a $4.99 Large Pizza Deal be so bad?

@qcfmike - The other guy certainly isn’t hitting what he needs, we looked at the same franchise in the same property and thought ‘NO WAY’. I certainly haven’t done anything to upset the town and I believe we have a good reputation from those that have tried us, we did get the staff to ask around...

Would a $4.99 Large Pizza Deal be so bad?

Thanks for the response guys, I have been torn with this because I really need increase our customer base. The idea of doing 10 pizzas for $50 does not appeal but getting the food in the mouths has gotta help. Our shop does look smart and clean with an open kitchen, on a main road with little...

Would a $4.99 Large Pizza Deal be so bad?

I know it goes against alll advice on this forum but here me out. I have one comptetior in a 28K town, neither of us get enough business, so there is only room for one. USP/Point of Difference

We do five different stuffed crusts (Cheese, Cheese and chive, Chilli Cheese, Cheese and pepperoni and our new Bacon and cheese) plus the occassional special crust. Stuffed crust is a great order value booster at $2 per pizza. Adds a minimum of 15% to each of our pizzas. We did push fresh and...

    Does Facebook replace a website

All three (Facebook, Google Places and your website) have such a great ROI you cant go wrong. We have had ordering on our facebook page for years but not a single order, however our website gives us 40% of our trade. @Daddio - if you want your facebook page on google edit your facebook info...

Trading food cost and marketing $$s for top line revenue

We have just started pushing deals down quite dramatically, so actual cost to the customer is about 15% - 20% more. We have found we are getting new customers and losing the bottom feeders, although after two or three weeks now, some are biting the bullet and coming back(although not ordering as...

    Marketing with very little funds?

We have just put our menus in the local barbers, car wash, candy store etc. Usually they are happy to put them out, but some of them need a bribe of a free pizza now and then, (might have turned them into customers as well).

    Dough help

We had a similar problem, at first we used as a marketing gimmick, ‘Our dough is so fresh, we make it hourly’. But it is a headache to manage your dough, especially on busy nights when you should be making pizza not dough. We increased the salt and oil level a chilled immediately which has now...

    Has this happened to anyone???

Tradespeople such as plumbers use this tactic a lot to gain more leads and hide from bad reputation from one of their other aliases. Really can’t see how this would help in a business that requires repeat custom, they would far better pushing one strong business brand, give em 6 months max.
