    Anybody ever dropped delivery service?

Great article LittleMissPizza. It’s all going to be down to your location and competitors, if it’s not easy to pick up for many customers, you may lose a lot and if you have a lot of competitors offering a more convienient way to purchase then you may suffer again. I would love to remove...

Massive Footfall due, what to do?

We can’t be part of the event because the cater it themselves and want all the sales to cover cost of free event, we did a one night offer last year but everyone knows they are going to fill up on burgers and hot dogs. Like the idea of helium balloons with vouchers/menus, think i might balloon...

Massive Footfall due, what to do?

We have been working at building our pizza delco for two years now and still taking one step forward and one or two steps backwards. We are on a main road, but it has little footfall. However, once a year there is an evening event just down the road which, providing the weather is good, will...

    Yelp

Wouldn’t pay them anything, people don’t go to Yelp to do a search they go to google. Make sure you have a google business page and a high ranking website. We got listed on many of these sites and not a single lead, all they do is sell on you contact information so you get bombarded with sales...

    Competitors Phone #

Answer phone message:- Thank you for calling xxxcompany, sorry we are no longer in business, just like the previous pizza places that have started at this location. We could not compete with CrusherPizza’s quality, service and value. Give them a call on 555-4545.

    new competitor

Talking about websites, I’m a bit of a geek in this area. We should all get the domain names for pizzaxxxtown, pizzadeliveryxxxtown and xxxtownpizza but also get pizza-xxxtown, pizza-delievery-xxxtown and xxxtown-pizza. Search engines read minus(-) as a space so the latter will be a direct...

    new competitor

Legal or not, still worth doing just to slow them down and redirect there resources and attention. Its worth getting all sort of pizza domain names for your town to give dominance on the net locally. Also worth getting all the facebook, twitter etc names as well. Means making up some false...

    Family Night

I think Rick, you bring a good point. just because we are delco doesn’t mean we can’t do this sort of thing, it would help encourage carryout which is my main aim at the moment and a bit of fun for the kids will be great attraction.

PLEASE HELP A FELLOW INDEPENDENT PIZZA SHOP OWNER

    Done, looks like tough competition.

Need a statistic. Percent of pizzerias that throw dough.

We throw the dough if someones in the store but we are very much delivery store. So we keep it to a minimum to reduce the amount of flour everywhere. I don’t think it makes that mush difference to the taste, if I had more in store custom or dine in I would throw though.

    Gum Line HELP!!

We have a gum line problem on our emergency dough, not sure if a slow rise is the answer but it works for us. When we end up having to dig into the tomorrows doughballs we cook normally and then on the last minute take the pizza off the screen and put back straight on the deck for a minute. Its...

    Lunch Business

Its all down to location with luchtime, it’s just gotta be convienient as well as good food and atmosphere. We are going to give up trying lunchtime, it seems a lot of expensive promotion and at the same time reducing prices. Harder work for less money. But then our location really dosen’t suit...

Things customers say that drive you insane

I had one the other week, this was a regular customer who always acts a ditz when shes in store, and yes she is blonde. She phoned the order to be be delivered to her home and said her address ‘eh 36 ****** street, I think’ so I asked if she was sure jokingly. Guess what, I heard her open her...

    Deal or No Deal?

Thanks Dave, that is reassuring. We are going to do offers that upsell like multiple pizza/food combos. I just double checking food calculations, so far looking at 25% food cost that will mean our menu prices are 30% lower than our competitors who are still pushing BOGO. Although we will math...

    Deal or No Deal?

Royster, every post is bottom line with you, but keep drumming it in as it is SO important 😃 . Your right, I have just checked and we would make slightly more money on the BOGO provided that’s what people want. When I worked in a grocery store, the manager had a deal on a 24pack of yoghurts on...

    Deal or No Deal?

I’m interested to know how pizzerias in the US sell pizza. Here in the UK it’s deal after deal wherever you go, I can’t remember when we sold a pizza at the list price. I instigated the BOGO in our town and now every place does it, and everyone has put there prices up to cope with it. Food...
