    Online Ordering

SOmeone ( can’t recall the vendor) just did a press release about having succesfully integrated a web portal with Firefly. It was for Extreme Pizza - you could probably google the names and find them.

    Gainesville?

Isn’t someone here from Gainesville, FL? If so - this looks like an opp. to make some new friends and get some free press… http://www.gainesville.com/article/2007 … 06/-1/news

    Cooking Chicken

I’m using a grill-marked precooked, and happy with it. Similar cost, but I’m fine with it getting more popular at that cost. it’s the labor of cutting the “boobies” into the size and shape we use as a topping that’s a pain. But we do that here - LOTS of manual prep work. Anyway - 2 comments: a)...

    Back office safe...really needed?

I’m just talking about enough to open the next day with. Or, in some cases, it actually does make sense for a store to have a deposit sit locked in a safe for a night…

    Foxes Pizza Den Franchise

Just that their website says 10K + $300/m. So what do you get for it - doesn’t seem like they do a whole lot of marketing for you…

Karma... Its nice to be nice..?

Woo-hoo! THAT is a very sweet payback. We donate probably a pizza a week to one or another good cause. I sure hope someday I get that kind of solid return. I mean, I feel good donating them for various fundraisers, but I’d feel REAL good with an order like that! Congrats!

    Back office safe...really needed?

How much $$ do you want sitting right there at the counter tempting a robber (or an employee?). We “drop” money from the register to the back office safe continuously. If someone says “give me all the money” at the counter, they’ll probably get $100 (more if they want the coins). ALL money is...

I now believe in Santa Claus

<<why not give them a chance?>> here’s why not: Someone hits THEM while delivering your pizza. The other car notices the sign on the roof, or the bag in the car. YOU GET SUED. The kid’s insurance will NOT cover you - and unless you have a specific policy covering that particular hired driver...

i am looking for the best delivery system

I use this one. Not for all deliveries, but for those that a) are far b) don’t hold their own temp as well in a regular insulated bag and to hold pickups hot. So far, so good - http://www.nminc.com/smallwares/C-HP101.html

    ?_Ciccone:

<> You need to have it inspected, if not tested. If the guts are in good shape, the answer to your question is roughly $0. Good ovens don’t need work on a monthly basis at all. <<Also we are having a problem with our ventalation, is there any way you can tell me a ball park of what i should be...

when are employees "off the clock"

I’m just sayin…you might BE signed up, and just waiting for some ex-employee to cash his/her chips. Check with state labor laws…

    employee food policy

Easier for me - we sell slices, and so employees get to have slices for their meals - no charge. Officially, it’s one per shift, while taking their break. In real life, they often will ask if they can take a 10 minute “slice-break” some time other than their lunch break. Since lunch breaks are...

when are employees "off the clock"

Same here - My POS is set up to follow the law, and my workers all know it. It is a PAIN, but they are entitled (required) to take a 15 minute paid break if working a short shift, and must take an unpaid “lunch” if they’re working a longer shift. Find out your state law and follow it...

how can i benefit from competitor shut down?

Who knows. He might need a sympathetic ear. He might be touched if you just call to say you’re sorry it happened. He might want a job…

    Need Help with Business Proposal

Bring a few ideas - pre-packages sandwiches and salads delivered daily seems simple; pizza available by the slice at a couple peak times perhaps; priority delivery for meetings and parties. But mostly be ready to ask some good questions and listen to the answers. THEY may already have an idea...

    Past Due Invoices

It’s a hospital - that’s the problem. They operate with a TYPICAL process of paying people in like 90 days. I’d buckle down, be polite, take the business, and expect slow payment.

    Anyone heard from Gobpile...

Not much of an indicator really - I’ve seen LOTS of websites sitting around after the business is gone. Vice-versa too - websites ignored and out of date, when the business is just fine…

how can i benefit from competitor shut down?

All good ideas - I just imagined the awkward moment, calling the poor owner of a shop that burned, and offering to take care of his customers… I mean…do they know what happened, or are you gonna be an arson suspect?

    here it is.........

This does sound like a nut or a jerk or both. IF he actually tries to open, it will be more than 6 months, he’ll spend too much, etc. He may come to try to get you to run it for him when it keeps losing money. The earlier post regarding offering to sell (legit or not) is a pretty good idea! In...
