Tommytwotone please tell me your doing inventory more frequently than every month? I do inventory every night. Its the way I was trained, at good old Domino’s pizza, it kinda sucks now though cause back in the old days I had maybe 40 inventory items, now I have about 160. So instead of spending...

How to price your restaurant to put up for sale?

Honestly, I am wondering why you would want to sell such a cash cow! If your do this well, and there is no real competition, I would just hire additional labor so you don’t ever have to turn off the phone lines again, and let the spigot flow. I don’t know what your fixed cost are, but I have a...

    Tips anyone?

I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHERE TAKING A $10.00 TIP IS DISHONEST. I LEARNED NOT TO QUESTION AND NOT TO CHECK THE MONEY AT THE DOOR ALONG TIME AGO. ITS A MATTER OF TRUST BETWEEN YOU AND THE CUSTOMER. TO CHECK THEM AT THE TRANSACTION, IS TO QUESTION THERE HONESTY. JUST LIKE ASKING THEM FOR THERE...

How to price your restaurant to put up for sale?

What I have seen is 3.5 times to 5 times Cashflow. It depends on the market and the strength of your brand. So if you your cash-flowing $60,000 a year. Your business is worth somewhere between $210,000. and $300,000. If you are pulling down $100,000 its worth $350,000 to $500,000.

Have it your way as long as its my way?

JohnF, I am only 100 miles north of you and I am doing a similar product line, and people in this remote logging town are eating it up. My average pie sells for $20., Everything is made from scratch. It blows my mind when I here about the east coast shops selling pies for $4 bucks.

    Question about grill/ventilation

I have been cooking steaks, burgers, and chicken in my Lincoln Impinger for years. What I do is run a cookie sheet through the oven, and pre-heat it, and then I place my meat on the hot sheet, and run through again, I like my Steaks Medium Rare, and it seems to do the trick every time. I imagine...

    How Strict are You?

Again, I doubt that all your customers will ask you to take a Domino’s Pizza coupon for your product, but for the 1% or 2% that does, your better off taking the coupon, than turning your customer away, to purchase products elsewhere! I sell a 12" 1 topping for $11.50 and I get it all day long...

    net margins

There are several factors that determine profitability. I have seen restaurants that do $28,000 a week average and still loose money, and I have seen restaurant do $5,000 a week and make $70,000 a year. According to the National Restaurant Association statistics Nationwide the average...

    advice on USP

I have been told to make suggestive comments that make the customer picture and image in their heads, thus establishing a desire for my product. i.e. “Tommy’s Pizza, I can just taste it! A hot slice of buttery flavored whole milk mozzarella pizza, piled high with spicy pepperoni!” or "Tommy...

    Tips anyone?

Take the money and run!!! I have been in the restaurant business going on 28 years now, and I have learned never to count the money, I just make sure there is enough to cover the check, and I don’t worry about whether they tipped me enough. I treat all my customers the same whether they “no...

    How Strict are You?

I have the tendency to rollover. I remember in my infancy in this business, I would stand strong on all coupons, and consequently we would loose allot of customers, from my unwillingness to bend. My Supervisor at the time had gotten a few calls about it, and he sat me down and told me this...

    Hours Of Operation

I have ran into this situation several times before in previous restaurants. What I have done in the past is run the store by myself. When a Delivery order comes in I make the order, and I deliver it myself. Locking up the store and leaving a note on the door saying back in ten on a delivery. I...

I have to admit, I was wong abought car signs!

YES!!! I remember the argument well. I am glad you finally recognize the power of the car top sign. Another good idea, is having a sign guy put vinyl lettering on your back window with your company name, and phone number, sometimes people can’t see the number on the sign, but if your back...

    9/11 remembered

Nor will I, I think its important that we all take some time to reflect on the freedoms we have today, and recognize that FREEDOM isn’t FREE! 9/11 is to this generation, what December 7th was to the last. An eye opener, and unfortunately a costly one. America has lost 1.3 million men and...
