    Direct Mail Frequency?

Nice post Josh. If there is one thing I see operators do inefficiently on a regular basis it is choosing reach over frequency. You mentioned Seth Godin’s book, Permission Marketing. I also can’t recommend it enough. For anyone interested, you can get the first 4 chapters for free here.

The essential question to ask before extending your brand

Seth had another great blog post today. I think Domino’s did this when they started selling Buffalo Wings, clearly a great addition to their product line. Places that fail are the guys like Mesa Pizza in Minneapolis, with a very unwieldy menu. Just because you can offer a lot of topping...

    Direct Mail Frequency?

$ for $, over the long run, frequency will get you much further than reach. Hitting the same houses over and over again will generate more customers. One time ROI, a blanket mail will do it, but if you are in the game for the long run (and you should be), then setting a bit of a different...

Facebook - How are you using it? Is it profitable for you?

Thanks for posting that Carmen. I think the article reinforces that social media is not an “if you build it, they will come” way to market to your customers. It takes some elbow grease to get going, and some follow up work, but the results are great.

    very cool new concept/ad campaign

This is one of the coolest ad campaigns I have seen in a while: Red Tomato 1 push pizza ordering fridge magnet If you are wondering if it actually works, it does. It is a bluetooth device that connects to your smart phone and orders a pre-set order that you can change/modify any time you want.

Facebook - How are you using it? Is it profitable for you?

This came up in another thread, and I was wondering what others were doing with it. I think most people know the basics of facebook, but what is using it to the fullest extent? What are some of the best practices you use for FB? Just some other questions off the top of my head to get the...

What's your #1 Marketing Method of choice?

Thanks for clarifying that Bodegahwy. Now I see what you were talking about. I totally agree with what you said. My event worked for the sole reason that I spent many hours previous to that cultivating my facebook follower list. $ wise it was free, but there was a lot of sweat equity that went...

What's your #1 Marketing Method of choice?

bodegahwy: It is not an assumption. Making a facebook event is perfectly free. Go back and read it again if you need to. It was a banquet style dinner with drinks included. $36 per person. 300 invitations generated 75 guests. I googled it and found this tutorial on making events. Did I make...

What's your #1 Marketing Method of choice?

#1 My biggest return was trying out for the national championships. 2000 People tried out, and 6 made it to the final 3 rounds. They were picked up by a TV show and did a 1.5 hour special. That nearly doubled sales and added about $110,000 in profits over the next 7 months. Sadly, the...

Best way to send out direct mail?

It really depends on your goals. In general once will pull a slightly better response, but hitting the same area 3 times will get a higher percentage of the people in that area, which, in terms of sales and customer generation is a good thing. To make the example easy, say you have 1000 homes...

PLEASE---no comments in here from POS companies

I totally trust your endorsement 314. You have been around here for years. jacob250 on the other hand? Are we supposed to believe he browses an obscure forum on the PMQ website just waiting to plug the company he uses? Nah. You don’t know vladi17 or whodoesntlikepizza or bigslice do ya Jacob...

    need some creative input

I also have to echo what Royster said. If you are maxed out in your marketing, then TV is a good option, but unless you have your bases covered with new customer generation and customer retention, you have much cheaper low hanging fruit to grab before you start with TV.

PLEASE---no comments in here from POS companies

Sorry about that dale. I did a search and pulled every sentence off that. Needless to say though, maybe you should give your POS company some advice and tell them that sending someone to post about the greatness of revention (the guy with no posting history who posted above you) just damages...

    need some creative input

Many times, something memorable and something that sells pizza are two different things. With TV ads, if you are not on prime time, you need to be on all the time. Prime time is expensive and if your commercial is not ‘good enough’ (by customer standards, not yours), it could do more harm than...

PLEASE---no comments in here from POS companies

Do a quick search of the forum. One of those POS companies has responses like: I am going to be truthful in this post. You will see both their good and bad points. If you can live with their bad points then I would recommend them. From the first page of a name search. 7 Negative posts 1...

If I could punch a website in the face I would

Why are people complaining about this web site? There are web sites out there dedicated to tenticle pron. You have better things to be worried about. If there is one thing that approaches death and taxes as the only certainties in life, it is that there will be a web site that complains about...

    Don't be cheap

Every time I raised prices, I raised profits. People don’t do it enough out of fear that they will lose some customers. The fact is, you do, but your ticket averages and profits go up. Good choice.

    Menus...

Jwarlow: Alright. You made a menu in excel, a spreadsheet program. There is no way it compares to a professionally designed menu. Your competitors were probably cheap as well and just used excel. I can assure you that they weren’t copying you. It is difficult to do anything to make an excel...
