    Looking at a potential buy

The place is worth $20,000. If sales are as low as they appear to be, that is it. How long is the lease for? A guaranteed lease in writing will bring up the price, but even if you have a 3 year option, 20k is the tops.

    Looking at a potential buy

JimmyAK: Those numbers don’t add up. Only spending $1k on food with $6k sales puts the food cost at 16.7%. The only way he could hit that is if he didn’t put cheese on his pizzas. Labor cost of 600 on 6k sales is not that bad. Most stores have 12-15%, with the manager pulling 10-11%. Feasibly...

    Who offers free wi=fi ?

tonyspizza: Kind of throwing out the baby with the bath water isn’t it? I had wifi in my shops and it was definitely something my customers really appreciated. Mac and Starbucks have clearly put resources into researching wifi in stores and they have it.

    Value of Lazy-Customer Mailings

Yep. Recording your results is key. Each delivery area has its idiosyncrasies, so it is a challenge to refine your marketing to target exactly what gives you the best response. My guess is that that big difference is only coming from your 30-59 day no orders. Those guys are the ones who order...

Can we get away with no POS?

What Scott said. I haven’t used that POS in over 3 years, so there are probably some very good changes implemented.

Can we get away with no POS?

I would have liked to see better inventory control, but I got around it by putting strict portion control in place. Every bit of cheese was in a measured topping cup and portion cups for the other toppings (pepperoni and the like counted).

Can we get away with no POS?

I used POSPizza in 4 of my shops. It is great for a lot of things, especially setting up a POS on a budget. The best feature it has is the ability to download the customer database into a CSV file that you can play with in excel. You can tweak the numbers and the order times/dates to really...

Can we get away with no POS?

Yep. A starter system, like Point of Success or POSPizza will save you hours and money. It will also pay for itself within 2-3 months after installation. A breakdown for Point of Success done on the cheap: Software: $599 (you will want a second monitor when you have some cash $200) Hardware: 2...

    ?? about selling my place....

You might want to have the place appraised first. 300k might be well over priced. Not knowing any details, that might be speaking too soon, but knowing the market, there aren’t many shops that are worth near that much.

    Building your own POS System

Haha. TL;DR. Yep. It looks like someone mislabeled that one. You can see the correctly labelled pic just above that one: http://images.highspeedbackbone.net/SKUimages/gallery/large/T76-10030-call09-ro-xd.jpg

Dangerous Pizza fliers? Never even heard of this have you?

Can hotel pizza fliers be dangerous? Walt Disney World thinks so Seriously? At least they are being intelligent about it and not banning everything outright.

    Building your own POS System

There are quite a few open source CRM programs out there, and they can be customized for significantly less than $1000, but the upkeep and upgrades are not there. Going with a low cost system has a ton of benefits though. Making your own system has a ton of reasons not to go there. For my first...

using an iPad in your store

There are some really reasonable android tablets out there. I would be a bit worried about an ipad getting broken (or a customer replacing yours with their broken one, or just stealing it outright…) Judging from the way tablets are selling, they are probably not going away any time soon. They...

    pizza stone mess

Yep. Raw flour tastes like ass. Even worse when it is blackened. There is nothing worse than taking a bite of pizza and having your tongue coated. You will never get that with corn grits. I actually really like the flavor it imparts to the crust. It does build up in decks noticeably faster than...

    pizza stone mess

Yep. Heat it up to 500 degrees or so and then just brush off the ashes. In the future, try corn grits on the peel. Much more forgiving than flour.
