I just tried to buy my first pizza place

Good move by running away from that “opportunity”! Talk about red flags! If you don’t mind me asking, what state/region is this shop? I just sold my shop that was doing the numbers you mentioned, back a few months ago.

    This is kind of shocking...

I know dough presses have heating elements, I doubt that most sheeters do. Let us know what it turns out to be. Oh, please be careful!

    This is kind of shocking...

I would guess that you have a bad ground. Check the power cord, make sure all connections are tight. Next I would test the receptacle, actually test the receptacle first.

    revolving bakery type oven opinions

I have 24 years experience using these types of ovens in my restaurant ( I sold my store back in November). We had a six shelf Bradley, then we went to a six shelf Reed. I’m not sure where Tom got the 25 minute bake time figure from. Our pizzas ( very thick crust- but not Chicago stuffed) cooked...

Black Cheese from Hobart Pelican Head while Shredding

I think Rob is right. I would completely disassemble, clean, and then lubricate with white grease.

    $ Resale a Pizza Shop

Well, you have not listed any info except for sales…so it’s kind of impossible to determine a price. I guess the most important question is how much is your cash flow? How much do you pay yourself + company paid perks such as health insurance, gasoline, etc. + profit. Do you have a lease or do...

Opportunity to buy owners second store.

Congrats on getting married gbomb! As to the restaurant…RUN! Those numbers are horrible IMO, doesn’t make sense to me. Don’t buy it just for the sake of buying it. You can find a better situation if owning a place is really what you want to do. Jr.

    Dough Rounder

Well worth the money IMO! It’s a one man show with a rounder, can’t imagine doing dough without it.

When & how much do you raise your prices?

I think you should raise them at least once a year! The key is to not make it too noticeable, .50 here…$1 on Xl, and so on. We raised our delivery fee from $1.50 to $2.00 a few months ago to compensate for gas prices, very few people mentioned the change. As our food costs go up, so should our...

    ?? about selling my place....

bodegahwy: Thank you Bodega! You were the one person I was hoping would reply. I’m going to PM you. For everyone else, in my original post you will notice I said “for example”. These are not actual numbers. Not trying to brag, but we run a tight ship here…and we can pay our bills. The offers...

    ?? about selling my place....

Hi every one, I’ve been following this board for YEARS. I have had other member names, but I haven’t posted in so long that I forgot what they were, much less the password. My question is this: Suppose I bought 50% interest of a pizza place for say…100K. Years later we sell the restaurant for...

    Bathroom Urinal Problem

Sounds like a Sloan valve. Follow the pipe that comes up from the urinal, there will be a round cap on the Sloan valve. Unscrew the cap and there will be an adjustment screw right in the middle. Tighten it all the way to stop the flow. Wait a second then untighten the adjustment screw a little...

Givex - Anyone use them or have comments?

We use Givex and we are really happy about it. The cost is more than what I expected, but I believe it is worth it. A bunch better than the old gift certificates we used to make ourselves. I actually think a customer was countfeiting our gift certificates and I called him out on it. No such...

    lettuce storage

We used to have the same problem, so this is what we did: Forget the pre-cut packaged stuff! We now order heads of romaine( by the 1/2 case) It is easy to cut. After cutting, we put it in a container and fill with cold water. It will last for days if you need it too. You can also squeeze 1/2 a...
