Any help appreciated, but specifically PJ HELP!!!

D’oh! I guess I could’ve, huh? It was the first evaluation I’ve ever been through, so I was afraid to say anything but “yes sir, no sir”. LOL

Any help appreciated, but specifically PJ HELP!!!

Gee whiz registered guest, can’t I ask a simple question without you always trying to label me a drama queen? Daggum, I already said there is no visible literature or materials there or I wouldn’t even be asking the question, would I? The only “drama” I see following me around is your frequent...

Any help appreciated, but specifically PJ HELP!!!

Anyone work or worked for PJ? My store failed our first evaluation and a huge portion of it was because my pizzas didn’t get a score! I am determined to learn what PJ expects, but I’ve been trained what the owner expects, and apparently, my “awesome pizzas” aren’t in spec with what PJ expects...

    I'm back!

Thanks! Same ownership, just another location. It’s so nice to be appreciated for the effort given. The other store is more of a drama cesspool (sp?) but this one is about 15 miles away, and the people that work there NEED a job and 90% of them, I’d say, are willing to WORK for their money...

    I'm back!

Hey ladies and gentlemen! I took a little break from the internet and now I’m back. Things have changed for the good here. I’m still working at PJ, just at another of the franchises’ locations. I am a day runner and I work on Wednesday then Friday/Sat/Sun and my back is holding up, and the...

How Are You Guys Slicing Tomatoes?

I work at PJ, and we cut our romas using that cutter. It works fine…you can stand the tomato upright for round slices, or lay it kind of on it’s side for oval style slices…but it works great…if you use a lot of tomatoes, then I would definitely invest in the cutter…one of our locations it’s...

    Verifying checks...whose responsibility?

Long story short, they “say” they value me and wanted to prove it by letting me become involved with a lot of consulting and “sit down” stuff while I heal my back. Sure, they could simply be using me…but in this economy, with my education level (some college, but no degree yet), I’d be swapping...

    Verifying checks...whose responsibility?

Nick, that’s why, if you ask me, we should not take checks. It used to be that most of our business was debit or credit card or cash. Once things started bottoming out, we saw an increase in checks, then returned checks, which led to the boss wanting me to brainstorm new ideas…OTHER than not...

John Schnatter locked me in his closet!

Schools will typically go to a Big 3 over a small chain or individual company many times just because they are afraid that a “small store” can’t meet their demands, and feel that a Big 3 is “used to all that business”. I would take that new recipe and design a by the slice operation if you...

    Verifying checks...whose responsibility?

Yes, that’s EXACTLY what is happening…because the order taker doesn’t ask what method of payment the customer will be using, the drivers ARE having to call in and verify the check before handing over the order. Bad business, IMO. With the exception of my 72 year old mother, who does NOT have a...

    Wings so freakin hot......

A scoville rating that high could be dangerous to the consumer. I know at http://www.hotsauce.com a lot of the extracts that are listed in those ratings are actually advertised as not for consumption. I agree, just add some habanero sauce to your wing sauce recipe and give that a go first...

Anyone have any input on having an ATM in your pizzeria?

I don’t believe that they hold that much, but you hear people all the time talking about that, especially at the casinos I used to work at. Perhaps those machines DO hold 250k, as some people will pull $5000 (the max withdrawal limit) out of the ATM there.

    Verifying checks...whose responsibility?

Here’s another one I’ve been asked to brainstorm and would appreciate input. We have recently had such a rash of returned checks, that the owner has implemented a processor that will allow us to instantly see if the check or driver license is approved via computer. The problem we’re having is...

Anyone have any input on having an ATM in your pizzeria?

Probably the reason for the increase in insurance, which hasn’t been mentioned yet, is that I would tend to think that if word got out you had an ATM, it would open your business up to a potential “snatch and grab”. We get these all the time here…people back in their truck into the business, in...

Any interest in dirt cheap websites?

The unfortunate thing is that most domain service providers go ahead and put up a “place holder” when the customer purchases the URL if the customer buys directly through them (Yahoo! for example). Are you offering these spaces on your own server, or purchasing through someone else and...

    Another Scam to Watch

Dunno if any of you have been affected by this scam, but this happened to me when I was still able to be a Shift Leader. I opened the store, and this employee for a fire hydrant company came in and told me it was time for the annual inspection, so I let him inspect and tag the hydrants. Come...

    "Sorry, no substitutions"

Yeah, that would irritate me, too. The customer would never know it by how I’d respond…but I think of subbing a Signature Pie would be akin to going to someone’s house to eat for Thanksgiving and wanting them to alter their Grandma’s beloved Turkey recipe to suit what you want. I think it’s...

    Speed Rails?

I’m not an operator, but I am a make line worker…and at PJ, we don’t weigh cheese, we measure it in cups before applying to the pie. But ditto what everyone is saying about it being easier cleanup, as well as less waste because you can put the cheese right back into the make line instead of it...

    "Sorry, no substitutions"

I think I know what the OP means. Like at PJ, when our large works is $12.99 on sale, and our large 4 topping would be $15.99, we will have customers say “I want a Works, but take off the onion, green peppers, and black olives” which leaves Pepperoni, IT Sausage, Canadian Bacon, and Mushrooms...
