    Pizza Drive Thru

Curious how pizza drive thrus work exactly, I don’t know of any here in CA. Is it only for customers who order ahead? Seems like the line would get backed up pretty quickly if you have customers ordering at the window and waiting.

    Edge or Xlt oven

I was actually set on Edge because of all the reasons mentioned. I had assumed XLT were priced on the higher end so I never really gave them a thought. A very successful friend of mine in the industry recommended XLT. I looked into them and they’re actually a little cheaper and have 2 more years...

    Vantiv/WorldPay, check your statements

That is WAY too high! You’re better off using something like square or PayPal.

    Vantiv/WorldPay, check your statements

Jan 2.68, feb 2.63, mar 2.68, apr 2.65. Not quite the 2.4-2.5 I was getting before, but close enough to make me give up complaining lol.

    Edge or Xlt oven

I know this is an old thread, but I’m currently deciding between XLT and Edge. Anybody have any updated reviews of either? I’ve heard only good things about both so I feel pretty good about going either way.

    menu pricing

If dine in is the most costly type of order, I would price as if 100% of orders were dine in so that no matter what your margins are covered.

    Gift Cards

Yes. I used a company called eCard. They walked me through everything and even contacted vantiv on my behalf for the data files needed for the cards. There are lots of companies that do it though, all you need is the data files from vantiv.

Pro’s and cons of even using a POS

Only con is you will become dependent on it and not know what to do in the event that it goes down.

i m looking into loyalty program thru texting. any experience ?

Personally, I have never been a fan of text marketing. I’m sure it works, but as a consumer I find it annoying and that’s the last thing I would want to do to my customers. I find email works just fine. To me if they take the time to sign up, then they obviously want the deals and they will go...

    Delivery Times

We shoot for 30 min or under. On Friday and Saturday night rush it typically gets to around 40 min, but we still shoot for 30.

    Buy Papa johns

Is 650k revenue in the first year, good? I would say 650k is great for a first year, but that’s probably expected for a well known brand like PJs. That is what you pay franchise fees for isn’t it? Not sure what kind of margins PJs typically have, but 40% food costs seems very high to me. Make...

    Vantiv/WorldPay, check your statements

Just got my January statement and effective rate was 2.68%. Better, but not quite as low as the 2.4-2.5% I was getting before. Going to call and complain. Will keep you posted.

    SB Sunday

It was crazy here in SoCal. $80 short of our record day and we actually closed up a little early because we ran out of cheese. My team crushed it though it couldn’t have ran smoother. Friday and Saturday were super busy as well. Our record week by $2k!

What kind of paper receipt do you place on your to go orders?

I have our system set up to have a delivery ticket print out for the drivers when they are dispatched for it. Only draw back is the drivers don’t have the ticket beforehand to help with gathering any sides they may need unless they dispatch themselves early. I really should get a label printer...

What kind of paper receipt do you place on your to go orders?

We use thermal paper and it works fine. Every now and then a receipt will get blacked out from being directly under a heater, but it doesn’t happen often. We had an impact printer with our old system but it was too loud I hated it and replaced it with a thermal. I’ve thought about getting a...

    Time clock apps

I’m do exactly what Steve does. Use WhenIWork app for scheduling and time off requests and our POS system (Thrive) for time clock. Haven’t messed with it at all, but I would assume the time clock part of the wheniwork app would get the job done.

    Vantiv/WorldPay, check your statements

Hello Steve. I have interchange plus and they sent me the notice about the extra charge being added to non-qualified transactions. I know you have a lot of experience with processing. Have you heard of that being done before or is this maybe a new trend?

    Vantiv/WorldPay, check your statements

Just an update…still haven’t got the rep on the phone but after exchanging emails she informed me of a message I apparently missed that read : “Beginning in September 2018, a processor surcharge fee of up to 1.85% will be applied to non-qualified transactions, which is in addition to your...

    Square POS

We use square with our delivery drivers and yes swiped transactions are exactly 2.75%. You can actually get a slightly better rate than that if you do a lot of volume but you have to speak to a rep and jump through a couple hoops. It’s very transparent you can go online and look at any...
