Opportunity to buy owners second store.

qcfmike: Haha. I know right? My wishful thinking going into the new store was that it would slowly increase to $16, $17, $18… as business picked up and I was able to schedule my self maybe 2 whole days off a week! I think the owner definitely bit off a bit more than he could chew. The store is...

Opportunity to buy owners second store.

Less than a year ago the owner opened a second pizza shop and I’ve been running it since. Unfortunately, it isn’t turning a profit or even breaking even for him and now he is pretty much out of capital. From our estimates we are off by about $130 a day on breaking even. So I guess he is losing...

    Holiday pay?

Seems a simple google search shows that it is not legally required in CA. Maybe in other states? http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/faq_holidays.htm I have heard of some employers in CA giving special holiday pay. Not pizza places however.

    Holiday pay?

Simply put, is there such a thing? I’ve heard myths about it before.

Which Of These Two Pizzerias would YOU buy?

3domfighter: Isn’t this just similar to everyones paycheck. Gross is before tax and net is after tax. Just ask them what they net right?

    How would you handle this??

qcfmike: Excellently put. I like the policy idea too.

    New menu items

How do you deal with the few customers that try to order the pizzas that you take off the menu? I know you are located in a tourist destination but maybe you still have a few regulars that like some of the discontinued pies? Assuming you still have all the ingredients would you still make it for...

    This business drives me crazy.

We’ve had a similar experience recently. Business is still slow overall. We have only been open for about 3 months. A monday a few weeks ago was our busiest day yet. And in that same week that Friday was one of our slowest days yet. We just finally had a new record day in sales this last...

    Delivery Insurance

I guess they confused me with the bolded part then. “Must have” and “mandatory” make me think it is legally required. But you are right it doesn’t say it is legally required. But the article also makes it look like owners who pay thousands of dollars a year on driver insurance are getting...

    Delivery Insurance

Sorry if this topic gets beaten to death but I’m curious about how delivery insurance is required by law yet many pizza places that offer delivery skip on the insurance. Here is an article. It’s a bit dated, from 2004. According to insurance brokers, nearly every insurance policy for personal...

how long did it take you to reach the sales your at now

We just opened a second store about 3 weeks ago. I would estimate that currently our sales are probably about only 15% of the amount we do at the other store. But the original store is also off a fair amount from the pre recession highs we saw between 02’ and 07’. We are finally doing so...

    Dough Hook

Just curious, how did it break? I couldn’t imagine our dough hook breaking even if I dropped it from atop of the roof 10 times over. And I always imagined, if someone tried to rob me the hook might be the first thing I grab in defense.

I Really Want To Buy This For A Delivery Vehicle

Nice. Would you put a wrap on it? I used to deliver in a Jeep Wrangler. Absolutely loved it. Was great on those warm summer nights cruising around with the top off.

    selling the business questions

paul7979: This sounds slightly misleading to the buyer if you are selling the store based on past sales but changing the recipes.

What is the average Utilities Cost %

Integraoligist: Like others have mentioned you definitely have to drop at least one person in the afternoon. I would suggest completely dropping the Waitress/phone girl position in the afternoon. Too slow to have someone waiting on people, just have your customers come up to the counter to...

NY to FL: Logging My Journey to Open a Pizzeria

I’d suggest replacing that 26"-30" TV (I’m guessing) with a bigger 40"-46" TV. And center the TV in the middle of that wall so it is symmetrical. And maybe you can find a smaller wall for your current TV. Place looks nice. I like the tile floors.

    Experts on Delivery

g.luczak: To be honest though, from my experiences both as a driver and a manager. Many employees, both drivers and insiders, are more than happy and willing to get off early from their shift. And it’s not always the same people who want to get off early too. Even your hard working employees...

How much money is worth a gun to the head?

g.luczak: Yep, I saw an hour long TV special on the collar bomb incident a few years back. I could definitely see how in some hard hit towns pizza delivery could be a decent income in that town. But you still will not be able to provide well for a family off of it alone. Also, wasn’t it...
