anyone every use a 3 to 1 phase converter for your mixers?

Was wondering if anyone has done this?Seems like most mixers are 3 phase and my store is one phase.I was told it was very expensive to switch over as well.
Thanks
Derek

It seems like this has been a topic before so do a search of the think tank to get more answers, but here is what I remember… If memory serves I think there are two main types of converters, and the obvious holds true here so buy the heavier more expensive type. The best one is a rotary phase converter and it gives you “real” three phase power, and a static phase converter that gives about a third less. I would not want to under power my mixer for fear of causing harm to it that is for sure! Good luck!

I bought one for my 80qt Hobart mixer from http://www.americanrotary.com

Give them a call and tell them you need a phase converter for whatever equipment you have, they will spec out the proper converter. Mine is a 5HP and was about $385 delivered. Their product is very nice, expertly packaged and looks very professional.
