Canadian Bacon

Ok I have a weird question…how would you describe canadian bacon and what are some of the most popular toppings to go with it? Thanks!!!

Depends on where you live I guess. Here in the U.S.A. Canadian Bacon is any lean meaty cut of bacon, in Canada it is smokeless and sweet pickle cured then coated in yellow cornmeal and they call it peameal bacon I think. I think it goes really well with pineapple of course, but I love it with onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms as well. I think it just comes down to individual taste.

That must be an eastern Canada thing with the corn meal out here in the west it is a lean piece of pork loin that has been prepared like the good old fatty bacon.

You can use it anywhere you would use ham.

Man, I have no Idea what the previous guys are talking about.
I live 60 miles from the border with Canada.
Canadian Bacon is pretty much HAM, your suppliers will call it PORK ROLL.
Americans eat Ham and Pineapple pizzas. Canadians eat Canadian Bacon, and Pineapple pizzas. Some companies may differentiate between the two. Using a smoked pork roll for canadian bacon, and a pork bologna for ham. But its all pretty much PORK.
