Marketing - Specialists in Pizza?

We are a bit disapointed with the response rate we are getting with flyers and door hangers we are sending out.

We are using a certain company and have been getting complaints that they are putting multiple doorhangers on doors (someone said she had 10 on her door), and a postal carrier complained that a mailbox on his route was “stuffed” with them.

So, we are looking at 2 things. 1) Should we utilize a marketing company for design of our door hangers and/or flyers and 2) should we find another distribution provider.

We are sending out ~40K per month between the two, and while sales have increased, we do not seem to be getting a great ROI. Any contacts, suggestions, or advice would be appreciated.

Finally, we intend to send out monster magnets and are working on the coupons for that. Suggestions or no-nos would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

This is a common occurrence when you use doorhanging companies to distribute your advertising for you. While the owners have the best intentions, the people they’ve got working for them usually have questionable integrity and work ethic. In my experience, you can expect about 1/3 of your doorhangers to go straight into the trash dumpster behind McDonalds (or, that lady’s mailbox). This, of course, is why your R.O.I. is down. Base your returns on 26,680 doorhangers distributed instead and I’m sure you’ll see a more accurate return rate.

Solution: Go out there with the company when they’re doorhanging. You really don’t have to be doing much at all. As long as they see you in the neighborhood a few times, they’ll get skiddish and they’ll think twice about dumping those hangers. Do this and they’ll actually put out 75% of the 40,000… only dumping 10,000 of them while you’re not looking instead of the usual 13,320.

I haven’t dealt with Monster Magnets before so I can’t give you any kind of advice about them. When I was shopping around for doorhanger magnet companies they were outbid by www.magpac.com , so I used them instead. -J_r0kk

Thank you for the feedback. Regarding the Monster Magnets, we are actually planning on regualr refrigerator magnets (5.25 x 11) that are mailed, not door hangers. While we pay more for mailing, we are assured that they are actually making it to the address.

The hope is that they will have more staying power (on fridge) and help us get a good response rate for a longer period of time.

I will also check out magpac.com

Thanks,
