…we would like to convince their customers to try our product! We’re expecting to receive an additional 20-40 phone calls a day from people looking for the competitor, which is now closed. What would be the best way to reassure their customers that our product is better and convince them to order instead of calling another chain? Perhaps some sort of discount? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

I would make sure the number is not just forwarded but rings a separate line… say rings your last line first. Unless all lines are busy, you will know that it is from the former company’s business. Have a script ready to quickly acknowledge that you know they are calling the former biz. Then ask if they have tried your pizza before. If not, for a limited time, I would offer them a deal to try yours. Just figure out what makes financial sense remembering that it is more expensive to acquire a new customer than retain an existing one. Once you get them to try you, be sure to followup with a Thank You letter and make sure they order from you again (bounce back offer or something). If they don’t, follow up to find out why. Own your area.

a script is good - just let the callers know the other place is outta biz & all calls are being forwarded to you…

If you dare - offer the 100% guarantee to any of those customers that might doubt your pizza…

Most likely you will have some crossover/duplicate customers anyway…

How was the price point of the other place?..Are you close price wise?..If you are much higher or much lower you will have to act differently than if you are close…If you are higher priced then there may be some selling involved…If you are lower you may not have to do anything special…
