is there any study been done about the percentage of success for a new pizza shop within next 3 years?

Hi Jean-Claude,

Unfortunately, the numbers of foodservice startups that stay in business past 2 years, let alone 3, is a very dissapointing 90%. Pizza operations have a slightly higher–80% success rate.

You’ll find a lot of information and advice here that will help you to be one of the 10-20% that are successfull operators.
 
I have 6 competitors. In 7 years in my area, mine is the ONLY one that has not changed hands. Average life of my competition is 18 months. Just long enough to eat up their life savings, and find someone else willing to throw it all away.

Simple facts:
  1. If you think it is easy money, you will fail.
  2. If it is a sideline, you will fail
  3. If you don’t have a good recipe, you will fail
  4. If you don’t have any idea what you are doing, you WILL fail.
Have a good plan for success, plan to work hard, have enough money stashed away, and you MAY succeed!
