This is a town of around 7000 people that was hit by the perfect storm over the weekend. The winds were gusting to 60 miles per hour carrying the fire through the town. The government building was destroyed as well as the radio station along with hundreds of houses and businesses. Fortunately there were no fatalities as the town had been evacuated.
The name of the town is Slave Lake. The name comes from the Slavey tribe that inhabited the area in the past.
