Gift Cards Online

Does anyone that offers gift cards sell them through your website?

I’m looking into do this, and there are a couple of different ways to go about it… Offer the cards online, and ship them to the recipient, or Valutec is offering what they call Air Cards - virtual “cards” that the recipient prints out and brings into the restaurant…

There is a charge for this service, but it’s about 1/2 the cost of shipping out a physical card. Many larger companies that offer gift card sales online charge a processing and shipping fee to cover the cost of the card and the postage.

I guess I’m wondering - are Air Cards going to catch on, or is it cheesy…?

I think the value in the “air card” is all for the vendor as anyone wishing to purchase a gift card would rather have a nice looking card and envelope.

Have to wonder how many gift cards you would actually sell online, however, as a single unit operator. If there is not a big set up charge, the “air cards” may be a good way to test the waters.

Physical cards. I have sold close to 1000 in the store this year. A big 0 on my website. Maybe when the holidays get closer I will…
