Reversing direction on conveyor ovens

I had to reverse the direction on my Middleby Marshall PS 536. We found the wires and made the switch and everything appears to be good.

I know you are also supposed to switch the belt around, but I do not really know why or what the reason for this is. It looks like some of the belt can caught on some of oven members if we don’t, but this is the only reasoning I can deduct on my own.

Can anyone educate me about why we need to reverse the belt?

Hi Rider:

The conveyor belt is sort of a chain. Better to pull with a chain than try to push with it.

You are correct that with the belt traveling in reverse direction it can snag and destroy its self.

Best you change the belt to pull.
