using digital TVs for marketing

how many of you use digital TVs for marketing in-store? Eg a 42" LCD/plasma for menu displays or marketing promo videos

Which make/models do you use? Does anyone use domestic screens, ie non-commercial grade?

what method do you use to display the content, eg USB, Flash card, pc, specialist software… etc

Thanks in advance!

I am running a basic photo slide show on a DVD. I have menu items intermingled with public service information like PTA meeting schedules, School Events, etc.

Hi MonAlyssa

thanks. Can you tell me which digital signage player you have? Where I am there is hardly anything available so I usually have to import specific models…

whats a ‘regular tv’? A domestic 42"? You mean you dont use a commercial-grade? Interesting

do you shoot the videos yourself? (for the menu specials etc)

A good 3 to 4 30 second spots can be shot in high def for about $2000. In post production you can then add your special tags and menu information as you wish (if you have the software–which if you deal with a quality videographer, can provide you with a format that can be reworked endlessly in Windows Movie Maker or some other free software solution).

A TV station may charge you less to make the spots, but they will want you to opt in to thier on air advertising, and they will sometimes retain all rights to the video, not allowing you to make any changes, not allowing you to view the spots on other channels or in your store, or simply charge you a reoccuring royalty fee to use the spots elsewhere.

Quality of production and timing is everything…If your production is poor quality, your results will be lower…Also, make sure you do not put too much in the loop that folks miss part of it…I was in a restaurant the other day that used 2 displays for the menu but there was so much on it, it took too long…

With menus being mostly static, they should not be on a dynamic digital display…Displays should be used to feature specials, events and add-ons…
