It is time to hire a new CPA

Hey John, I know you’ve done well, but I’d issue a word of caution… We’re in our 9th year of business and have accumulated quite a large depreciation schedule. Additionally we have other businesses that our CPA takes care of and she also does our personal returns. Having QB online makes it alot...

    Raising Prices While Increasing Sales

What I’m saying, is if you’re pushing everyone to do online ordering, OR delivery (they’re calling you), then what is generating the need for WiFi? Nothing. A POS is an operational emprovement. You mentioned LARGER menus twice. If you think it’s that important, then do it yesterday. But again...

    Raising Prices While Increasing Sales

Certainly not my target customer, let them graze @ the cheap joints. You’ll never (myself included) do well with that business model. Not so important. You want them to have YOUR phone number or website or address. Competition can be good and bad. Learn your market!! If you’re constantly...

Phones...To VOIP or Not to VOIP...that is the question?

I’m like Patriot’s. We probably signed up around the same time, I don’t quite remember. Nextiva is a great company and offers FAR more than a simple voip line. We have a corporate system with 10 extentions and 2 locations, autoattendant, menu systems, and a whole bunch of stuff I don’t really...

    Raising Prices While Increasing Sales

Good to see you hanging in there. Reading the post above gave me a bit of a headache. It caused me to go into a loop of wondering if you had a goal besides checking all the marketing blocks (I did that, I paid that) much like ordering all the toppings available for a pizza, only to be...

Prep table not cooling below 58F

It could be a number of things: Low on gas. Condenser fan might be inop and needs replacing. Condenser blown and needs replacing.

First post, first question (of many)

bodegahwy nailed it. If you’re in a low cost ($5 all you can eat area), FORGET about it. If you’re able to charge a fair price, $10 or more, you’ll have a chance.

2nd store tax & accounting structure

My second location is under the same corporation, just a different accounting entry in the books (re Brad Randall’s comment on classes). Same EIN and state payroll taxes. Each location has a separate Sales Tax #. Same insurance policy, additional locations are added.

    Bad Habits

Its theft, plain and simple. They’re making and selling food without ringing it up.

    QuickBooks For Restaurants

I’ve used QB online w/payroll for 8 years. My bookkeeper and CPA can access online to do taxes and reports. You should have a CPA help you set your books up, but after that, its easy. Its not brainless and requires a little learning, but can save alot in the endrun: pay your own payroll taxes...

    Bad Habits

Quality employees who don’t follow directions and COST you 20% of sales? That’s not quality, its theft.

David Scott Peters "The restaurant expert"

No, you shouldn’t need to visit a restaurant ‘conference.’ It sounds like you’re a low priced, high volume chain franchisee. ??? While having said that, don’t take it in a negative way, it’s simply why you’re not as successful as you think you should be. Low priced, high costs, high volume...
