    ? for my American neighbours

Something else we use for the larger bills is a counterfeit detection marker. In the US, you buy them at Officemax: http://www.officemax.com/omax/catalog/p … ounterfeit^region~1^prodPage~10&searchString=counterfeit&category_Id=null Not sure if you can buy them in Canada. But possibly on Ebay.

    Taco Pizza Recipe

I am thinking of adding a taco pizza to our menu, but I’m not sure which ingredients I should use or the process such as refried beans instead of sauce. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Fourth of July ---open or closed any input?

We’re leaning towards closing. Lunch time will be nothing since all the factories and independant companies will not be working. If we opened at night, it would only be for 3 or 4 hours, plus half the crew wants it off anyways.

Any small guys considering stopping delivery

I’ve noticed that our deliveries have dropped considerably. But since we’re small time, our driver or drivers can always stay busy inside the store as well. We haven’t lost any transactions, but on the contrary, we’re growing by leaps and bounds. It doesn’t sound like a bad idea, but I’ll wait...

    The Customer Knows!!

In times like these, we’re trying to reduce waste, reduce over prepping, and finding ways to save money while trying to offer a quality product to the customer. I found this little tidbit of information on AOL that proves that when you start changing your product, the customer will know and you...

    VIP Cards

Does anyone have a VIP program where they sell cards with a decent discount on it? For example: One pizza place in Grand Rapids has a card where they offer $5.00 off with any purchase over $25.00. I believe they sell the cards for $20 or $30 per card. Anyone else doing a program like this or...

Calling all dine in operators.. need advice please!

You can offset labor costs also by bringing people in later and sending them home earlier depending on business. In the corporate world, increasing sales is the cure all for most problems including labor and food costs. Cutting out free refills isn’t a good idea, besides, pop on tap is cheap...

    Cintas Uniform Co.

We bought a bunch of towels at Sam’s Club a year and half ago, still using them. We soak the towels all night and run them in the morning. We don’t have alot of time either, but it’s a way to save some bucks. We try to do as much as we can without relying on outside sorces, especially since...

Trying to understand scope of Food Costs - Please Help

It sounds like you know how to figure out food costs. We count everything except for cleaning products. We run around 33% on the sales we have. Paul is right, you need to figure out what works best for you, your percentage will drop with higher sales, and go higher with lower sales. But...

    Increasing Delivery Fees

I also have to agree with dave and Nick. If you’re changing your ingredients every week, the customer will go somewhere else due to the fact they want consistency. And as stated, pride can be taken to the bank, as we’re finding out. We’re also in a small town with chain pizza places around, and...

    32 In a row.

We’re a small family based business where we don’t need or want a manager. Our last day off was Easter, before that, Christmas. My whole family is involved here so we see each other daily. Can I afford a manager, definately not. I have been a GM for a mall based pizza place, had a crew of 25...

    Buying New Pizza Ovens!!

George, I agree with you. Before I bought anything off Ebay or from anyone. I would have to find out exactly what I was buying. I even found Vulcan ovens like ours, but I’m trying to get away from that problem. I’ll keep doing my research, and see what happens.

    Buying New Pizza Ovens!!

Thanks everyone for the help. I’ll look at the different brands and see what will work best. There’s seems to be quite a few Baker’s Pride and other brands on Ebay. That’s just one resource that I’m looking at.

    How often do you doorhang?

We go out every week and pass out flyers. It’s been doing great for us. The amount we do depends on the time we have to do it in.

    Buying New Pizza Ovens!!

I have some Vulcan ovens which do not keep alot of heat in when we’re busy. They don’t have stones, just metal bottoms. We’re thinking of trying to find some nice used Baker’s Pride or Blodgett ovens. But before I can figure out which to buy, I have a couple of questions. First, since mine are...
