As you consider your options, please follow MM’s advice! We never moved the cash drawer or left the empty drawer open. Always left $100 starting bank in there but left it closed and since it was “double reinforced fire safe” and connected to the POS with connection cables we thought we were pretty safe. Having video cameras and warning stickers up we were all set.
2 weeks ago someone through a brick in the 10x10 window, hopped inside, used wirecutters to cut the computer cable and hopped back out with the entire cash drawer! Caught the whole thing on video but the unibomber hoodie made him tough to identify.
$100 in cash lost but over $600 in computer system damage not to mention the cost of the window.
Yeah, get a safe and make it clear there is no accessible money!
