We need your help to create National Pizza by the slice day!

Press Release

Details: Wild Slice Family Pizzeria in Roswell Georgia along with the support of pizza lovers everywhere, aim to make August 22nd National Pizza by the Slice Day!

As an experienced restaurateur and the owner and operator of one of North Fulton’s newest Pizzeria, Mike Thomas has embraced the fun and excitement of National Food Holidays. As a place that has quickly been known for serving up quality pizza by the slice, Mike was perplexed to learn that Pizza by the Slice day does not exist. “As one of America’s most popular foods and with so many other food holiday’s already in existence, it was shocking this day didn’t already exist,” Thomas said. “We felt compelled to start a grass roots effort to put this holiday on the map. As a result the plan to start National Pizza by the Slice day was born.”

During his research, Mike knew it was important to find a date that would not conflict with another current food holiday as well as align with a time of year that was conducive to pizza lovers everywhere. The obvious choice was the end of summer and the start of the school year. “August 22nd was the perfect date”. It was a little over two weeks after the local schools started back up and would mark the start of a new busy season.” Thomas added “to celebrate, we are excited to announce Wild Slice will be giving away FREE cheese slices all day!”

In order for this to succeed, Mike knew he had to enlist the support of several other pizzerias, food bloggers, and vendors. “We are asking pizza lovers everywhere to use the hashtag #NationalPizzabytheSliceDay and help us make this food holiday official,” Thomas added. “We’ve had tremendous response so far, people are excited to celebrate a day dedicated to pizza by the slice and look forward to seeing this idea come to fruition.”

In addition, it was an opportunity to share some good for the community and partner with an local charity, The Drake House. Mike currently serves on the Y.P.A.C. (Young Professionals Advisory Council) for The Drake House. “As a business centered on family, it is our purpose to serve the families of our community, and as a member of the YPAC board, it is our obligation to create opportunities of awareness and fundraising for the amazing work The Drake House does for women and children. This seemed like an obvious opportunity” explains Thomas. The Drake House will be on hand to accept donations. Each donation of $10 or more will be entered into a drawing to win free pizza for a year from Wild Slice.
